Avia A21.1F Van

Flow of creation of the model Avie A21.1F

Avia A21.1F Van

Introduction

I decided to do this because there isn’t a visually acceptable Avia model for Mafia in general, and there certainly isn’t a van model. I’m not saying there aren’t any for Farming Simulator or other games, but currently there aren’t any for Mafia or GTA. I had no choice but to create the model myself. Being practically a Blender novice, I took this as a challenge to at least learn the basics of Blender. Until now, I’ve done all my editing in ZBrush and 3ds Max. But since I switched to a Mac a while back—where 3ds Max isn’t available—that’s why I’m using Blender. Otherwise, I probably wouldn’t have taken this on

The first 15 minutes
It’s starting to look like a car
The first in-game test turned out really terrible
The second one was a bit better, but it still looked really terrible
Gradually, though, I got the hang of Blender and it actually turned out okay. Normals gave me a really hard time, but weighted normals solved that for me. Everything is described below the photos
Testing the texturing of parts. Getting familiar with the Blender 4ds plugin
Deformations work well too
I plan to release the model and make it available for free download in the basic blue version with a white roof. Just a heads-up: it’s nothing special. I still have a few things to finish, then I’ll post it here
Another test shot. The mask is now just a texture, not a model
It’s starting to look like a car
Front detail
Model with license plate and functional billboards
Normal map issues are still noticeable
Subsequent tests went much better. Compared to the first tests, I managed to fix pretty much everything I personally didn’t like about it. The glass gave me a lot of trouble—specifically, the fact that it shatters. The moment it broke, the game crashed. After a day of testing and troubleshooting, I asked on Discord, where the plugin author noticed that I was using an older version of Blender. Everything is resolved.
